As the sun started shining in NZ some of the group took the chance to take a trip together up the beautiful Mohaka river:-)
Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand
The group threw down the gauntlet this Thursday at Palmerston North’s International Daytona raceway….and initially it was
picked up by Left to Right: Vincent (working with Catherine Whitby), Ben, Sahsi-“CaptainCrash”, Susav, Bill, Jim (the Ringer), and Josiah.
For now the standings are below, but it should be noted these are not corrected or age or infirmity, entertainment value, or out and out dirty tactics (you know who you are):
Bill, Brad and Jess got to the Synchrotron in Aussie earlier in the year and with Duncan McGillivray (Left) from the University of Auckland, and Tim Ryan and Nigel Kirby from the SAXS beam line team, did some anomalous scattering measurements in an attempt to measure the ion-distribution around polyelectrolytes of varying charge density. Really promising results using Rubidium as a monovalent sodium-substitute with absorbance within the available energy range…..On the back of this we have more beamtime at the end of the year:-)
How many scientists does it take to load a sample into a capillary???? !!!
